Douro river is right here nearby and and there’s a huge wish to spend some time seizing it. Guests yearn for the landscapes, the viewpoints, the wine, the hikes, the mountain and the water streams and the river.
Enjoy Douro was born in 2016 and it was with them that we debuted in Stand Up Paddle smile
We were a group of 8 people (5 were between 10 and 16 years old) and we met with Pedro Almeida in the river beach of Bitetos (Marco de Canaveses). We spent a couple of hours in the water, kayaks and paddle boards, crossed the Douro river, passing by the small island of Amores, climbed a part of the Paiva river (photo above) … and returned to the river beach.
In addition to having founded Enjoy Douro, Pedro is a guide, instructor and also a videographer:
Enjoy Douro has some defined programs, but they always prefer to reach each one’s desires and interests: “we don’t like tourism made out of ruler and square,” they say.
Besides their tours related to Nature, they choose the most authentic and traditional places to visit and have lunch.
We challenged Pedro to suggest three different activities that could easily be done by the guests staying here at Quinta da Bouça.
These are his recommendations:

There are countless possibilities for visits, itineraries and programs. According to each person interest, it all depends on whether you are a young couple, a family with small children, a family group with teenagers or some more mature friends.
Last April, the Olson family (USA) stayed at Quinta da Bouça and did “A Day in the Douro” tour. The Olsons’ testimonial:
They picked us up at 8 am at our villa and took us to the nearby train station where we were able to catch the scenic train to Regua. They met us there with the van and took us to lunch, 2 really nice vineyards nearby (1 that was smaller and another that was a bigger corporate site), a 1 hour boat ride on the Douro river and another nice meal in the beautiful town of Amarante. They were fantastic guides and even better people that made the day really special for our family. I had mentioned that I was interested in Roman ruins so they made a special stop at the archeological site on the way home. It was a really full day of fun, learning about the area and life in Portugal. I highly recommend this tour!
